Gradex, Inc., a heavy civil construction contractor, is hiring an Accounting Manager in Indianapolis, Indiana.

OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the CFO, this is a great opportunity to advance your career into an executive role as you learn more about the company and the construction industry. Working with the CFO and Controller, you will assist in formulating plans to improve utilization of the current accounting software technology.  As our Accounting Manager, you will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while adhering to accounting standards and regulations. You will help oversee accounting activities, manage systems for data collection and analysis, and make recommendations to enhance accounting methods. Understanding various financial operations within the company is crucial to the Accounting Manager’s responsibilities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assist in daily accounting operations, including AR/AP, general ledger, job cost accounting, equipment analysis and costing, banking and treasury management, bank deposits, cash receipt posts, and financial reporting.
• Assess current software technology and formulate a plan for enhanced utilization of accounting software. Enhance the existing technology to leverage and create efficiencies such as implementation of paperless accounts payable processing.
• Prepare intercompany transactional accounting reconciliations and production of accurate monthly financial statements.
• Enhance management and data reporting tools and reports to produce better quality information for timely and better-informed business decisions.
• Improve transportation company reporting, including working with various team members to produce analysis of optimal life cycle on fixed assets.
• Enhance analysis of equipment accounting and reporting, including detailed fixed asset accounting and depreciation records.
• Conduct monthly general ledger reconciliation and reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
• Assist on capital structuring, prepare monthly lease and debt accounting worksheets, and collaborate to manage work-in-progress (WIP) analysis and job closeout.
• Perform other accounting activities as well as work with customers and vendors to maintain and enhance working relationships.

SUCCESS FACTORS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles. And we would prefer 4-7 years of public accounting experience within a CPA firm.
• Experience with construction contractors is preferred.
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to assess and balance priorities and shift focus.
• Outstanding data management and analysis skills.
• Detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to effectively and efficiently collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• High character, strong integrity with positive energy to align with company values.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Gradex, Inc. will reward your accounting talents with a base salary of $90k-$110k depending on your experience. You will also receive a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, 401k, and paid holidays and vacation.
